As thousands of terrified Ukrainians flee their country in search of safety, Ceredigion Citizens Advice has re-affirmed its support for anyone needing advice on asylum or immigration.
During 2021 the leading local advice charity helped over 30 clients in Ceredigion who needed help with immigration and asylum issues ranging from benefits, employment and residency rights to managing visa applications and sorting out travel documents.
In the past three months local advisers have dealt with over 20 immigration and asylum issues from people of many different nationalities living in Ceredigion.
For clients who can’t speak English or Welsh a Citizens Advice translation service is available.
Ceredigion Citizens Advice chief executive Juliet Morris said: “We’ve all been affected by the horrendous footage from the Ukraine. Our hearts go out to them. At Citizens Advice we have a deeply held commitment to securing social justice for all and a long track record with helping people of all nationalities from across the world access immigration and asylum advice. We are free, impartial and accessible to all.”
She added that the organisation was eager to support any local initiatives to help Ukrainian refugees and could also help with signposting to other local organisations that provide practical help.
