Ceredigion Citizens Advice (CCA) is one of over 300 registered Citizens Advice charities in England and Wales. We have a dedicated team of 20 staff and 17 volunteers, and a Board of 9 Trustees who are also volunteers. We cover the whole of the county of Ceredigion and work closely with Pembrokeshire CA to provide a service for clients in north Pembrokeshire. We serve a population of around 73,000 people, and helped over 2,500 people last year, providing advice services that are free, independent, impartial and confidential
Since March 2020, the COVID19 pandemic has necessitated a change to the service delivery model. We successfully relocated, with all staff working from home providing services by email / chat and telephone. We are now exploring opportunities for partnerships with other charities with a view to sharing of premises. The Rural Reach team was established to drive forward this approach and informal links have been forged with 5 regional community advice hubs. This summer, we agreed as an organisation to continue the development of the hybrid services through a flexible blended service model that meets the needs of our service users and our wider community. We are looking for a new CEO to set a vision and lead us on this journey.
Role: CEO of Ceredigion Citizens Advice
Salary: £45,000 – £50,000
Contract: Permanent, full time
Our new CEO will:
- Provide strong, inspirational leadership to staff and volunteers, increase the volunteer base, and provide a strong sense of team and purpose to deliver the new delivery model post pandemic:
- Develop new business opportunities to increase funding to achieve long term financial sustainability and resilience to create the most comprehensive and accessible ‘Go To’ Advice Service to clients in Ceredigion;
- Drive forward the delivery of high quality assured bi-lingual Advice services to enable the widest reach to people for whom advice is essential to their financial health and well-being;
- Develop systems and resources which have the best fit for CCA’s new and developing delivery model to ensure they support staff and volunteers to deliver efficient and effective services;
- Develop new partnerships within communities and funders, and work closely with current funders to continue to ensure a robust and sound financial base;
- Consolidate the adaptations made to the delivery of our services in response to the pandemic and to lead staff and volunteers to the next stage of development.
Amongst other criteria, the successful candidate will have:
- A sound understanding and experience of working within the voluntary and/or public sectors.
- Understanding of the strategic and policy environment in which the advice sector operates.
- A track record of delivering high quality, accredited, accessible and multi-faceted services to clients, including the development of quality standards and monitoring of service delivery against agreed targets.
- Considerable experience of financial management and systems. A strong track record of sound financial management with demonstrable experience of having had financial responsibility of setting and managing a budget.
- Experience of setting organisational strategy, business planning and strategies to maximise fund raising.
- Substantial leadership experience of an organisation or team in the voluntary or public sectors, ideally to include working with or reporting to non-executives.
- Understanding of and commitment to Citizens Advice aims and principles and equality and diversity and inclusion, including the Welsh language and culture.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in Welsh or show commitment to achieve Level 2 Welsh standard within a mutually agreed period, during which time support will be made available.

Teams Administrator and Telephone Receptionist
Hours: Full-time (35 hours)
Salary: £17,290 – £18,053 (dependent on experience)
Location: Office base is in Cardigan and our service covers the county of Ceredigion. The role is currently home-based due to Covid-19 measures.
Citizens Advice offers confidential advice online, over the phone and in person, for free. We give people the knowledge and the confidence they need to find their way forward – whoever they are, and whatever their problem. We help with everything from money issues to problems at work, housing to consumer rights.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual with a ‘can do/will do’ attitude who has good administration skills, is well organized and is a team player. This role is partly based within the Debt Team giving administrative support to caseworkers and will also provide a ‘front of house’ welcome to telephone callers, dealing with their calls professionally and sensitively and quickly identifying who can give the support they need.
The successful candidate will have experience in office administration, good written and verbal communication skills, comprehensive IT skills and a confident and sensitive telephone manner.
Training in all aspects of the role will be given to the right candidate.
