Consultation: Successor to Welsh Government Warm Homes Scheme

The Welsh Government wants your views on a future demand-led energy efficiency and fuel poverty scheme to succeed Welsh Government Warm Homes – Nest from 1 September 2017.

There are three main factors that influence whether a household will be in fuel poverty. These are:

  • household income;
  • energy prices; and
  • the energy efficiency of the home.

The Welsh Government has limited powers to tackle low income and energy prices, making the eradication of fuel poverty a real challenge. However, it can make a real difference by improving the energy efficiency of homes in Wales with resources targeted at those households most in need of support.

Support is currently provided through Welsh Government Warm Homes which includes the demand-led Nest and area-based Arbed schemes. Nest and Arbed are continuing in 2016/17. However, the scheme manager contract for the Nest scheme is due to end on 31 August 2017.

This consultation seeks the views of stakeholders on the design and delivery of a new scheme to succeed Nest from September 2017.
