We all owe money to various people all the time: bills are a fact of life. But from time to time, you may find yourself overwhelmed by debt, and can’t see a way out. You should never ignore bills. Help is available to find a way of dealing with them.

At Ceredigion Citizens Advice Bureau we can advise you on all aspects of debt and the courses of action open to you. We can help with preparing a budget statement and negotiation with creditors – the companies and people that you owe money to. We can help over the phone and via email.

The aim of debt advice is to help you stabilise your financial situation so that you can safeguard your home and your belongings, have enough money to feed and clothe you and your family and to pay your debts at an affordable rate, or use other appropriate debt solutions.

The debt advice (or money advice) process is a systematic way of working to help you achieve this aim. Helping to sort out debts can be complicated. It requires a number of activities which might take time to complete. Having a process ensures that nothing is missed. Some of the activities may happen at the same time, for example preparing a budget and checking who is liable for debts. Different people within the bureau may help you with different parts of the process.
